Wasabi Power Firmware Updates -- GoPro HERO5 Black

UPDATE: Jan 25, 2017 -- We now offer batteries that are compatible with all current and future firmware updates from GoPro. You can find them here.

What happened?

GoPro released a firmware update (version 01.55) in late November 2016. This update disabled the ability for any aftermarket or third-party batteries to be used for the HERO5 camera.

Can I get a replacement or refund for my Wasabi Power HERO5 batteries?

Absolutely. We will always honor our 30-day money back guarantee. We also now have working batteries for future firmware versions. You can call us in California at 877-268-1235 or send an e-mail to info@wasabipower.com.

What about other cameras?

This only affects aftermarket batteries for the GoPro HERO5, which include new battery/camera technology. These enhancements were not available on previous models. Other camera manufacturers (e.g. Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, etc) have used firmware updates to hinder third party batteries, but this is the first time we know of that a battery doesn't work at all. Usually they will power the camera but may not offer a correct gauge for remaining battery power.

Where can I get more information?

If you've purchased a Wasabi Power HERO5 battery that is no longer working, please contact the seller so they can resolve this to your complete satisfaction.
